Allison's Wells School of Arts & Crafts

The Allison’s Wells School of Arts & Crafts is a non-profit educational organization, located in the downtown “Historic District”, listed in the National Register of Historic Places, Canton, Mississippi, 20 miles north of the capital, Jackson, just off Interstate 55. The School is the rebirth of the historic Allison’s Wells Resort and Art Colony which existed from 1879 to 1963 when destroyed by fire. The School is based upon the teaching ideas that began with the old art colony combined with the new and exciting ones.

The Purpose of the Allison’s Wells School of Arts & Crafts is:
To open new horizons
To awaken new interests and aspirations
To create an awareness of one’s capacity to grow
To provide life-long adventures in learning that are joyful and enlivening
To inspire enlightened citizenship that builds a satisfying community life

A vital part of this school is the Allison's Wells Artists & Craftsmen. Their mission is to develop a climate of artistic expression through enrichment, education and preservation of heritage while fostering a platform for artists and craftsmen to share their talents with the community.

Beginning this year, the Allison's Well Fine Arts Festival will be held in conjunction with the Canton NIssan Celebration, on the last Thursday in May. It is a juried show for artists from Madison County and those with Canton connections.
